alexbender is the name of the label I started in 2010. In my studio, high-quality bags and accessories made of leather and fabric are created. I do all the steps myself, from the draft to the photo, with the support of my husband, who takes care of the shipping.
An everlasting play with colors, minimalist design that impresses with its high quality and functionality. Always classic and timeless. Here you will not find bags for the coming season, but favorite pieces that will give you many years of pleasure.
The collection does not change every six months. Colors stay online until sold out. Classic shades such as black or cognac are always on offer. Fair prices are important to me so that everyone can afford an alexbender bag.
PROCESSING / SHIPPING
made to order: All orders are sewn by me in Berlin after ordering. I don't have overproduction or long supply chains, nor do I have a warehouse. I try to work with as little waste as possible.
Leather is a natural product and small bumps or fine structures are characteristics of natural leather.
Your order will be shipped plastic-free and you will receive a durable product in a timeless design, with the best workmanship and functionality.
You will receive a product that 100% deserves the imprint "Made in Germany".
MATERIAL
I mainly use cowhide leather. Many bright colors are remnants of high-quality European tanneries that work according to European standards. These colors are therefore only available in limited editions.
I obtain all other leather from a German leather dealer who sells skins from Europe that are tanned according to the official EU requirements and from an Italian leather manufacturer that works sustainably. You can find out more HERE
I get the inner lining of the bags made of cotton or blended fabrics locally from the fabric market in Berlin. These are often remaining items, so they are only available in limited editions.
I order the fabric for my 100% organic cotton bags from Lebensclothing. I order the matching straps from Italy.
MAINTENANCE
Leather is frugal in its care requirements. During the first years of use, it is sufficient to remove dust and light dirt with a damp cloth. With proper care, the leather has the opportunity to develop its individual beauty. This can be read from a fine patina. It reveals to those in the know that the leather is natural and its surface has not been sealed with a plastic layer. Even slight signs of wear are part of a high-quality leather. They give it character.
